Lifeline Universal Service Program is available to qualified, low-income consumers and offers a discount for telephone or broadband service.
How to apply:
  1. Complete the form on the Lifeline website, you will be sent a code via email https://getinternet.gov/apply
  2. Fill out UTC Lifeline form
  3. Return UTC Lifeline form and confirmation code from Lifeline to ANY Union Location
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Medicaid
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance
  • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit Program
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
  • Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TTANF)
  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
  • Head Start (only for households meeting Head Start's income standard)

What kind of plans can I apply a Lifeline discount to?

For mobile Lifeline service, this offering provides a discount on a single line with the following service features:

    • Unlimited Voice on Union’s Home, Extended, and Canadian Networks
    • Unlimited Domestic Long Distance on Union’s Home, Extended, and Canadian Networks
    • Unlimited Domestic Roaming on Union’s Home, Extended, and Canadian Networks
    • Unlimited Text Messaging (SMS) on Union’s Home, Extended, and Canadian Networks
    • Unlimited Multimedia Messaging (MMS) on Union’s Home, Extended, and Canadian Networks
    • Unlimited Data on Union’s Home, Extended, and Canadian Networks*. International roaming in areas outside of this area is available at current published rates at https://www.unionmobile.com/international
    • Information Service calls to 411 include a flat rate surcharge of $1.98 per call.

For fixed base Lifeline service, this offering provides a discount on a single line with the following service features:


    • Unlimited Domestic Phone Service with unlimited voice minutes, voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, conference calling, and no answer/busy transfer
    • Unlimited Domestic Long Distance minutes includes direct-dialed voice calls to any mobile or landline phone number within the United States of America. This includes the basic rate option includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Union’s Unlimited Domestic Long Distance is for direct-dialed domestic residential voice usage only and does not include calls to pay-per-call 900 numbers, directory assistance, per-use feature calling, calling card, operator services, information services, international calling, and any other non-toll free calling services. Such calls are subject to additional charges, taxes, and fees. These charges will be added to customer’s bill at the then current rate.
    • Broadband Internet “best effort” service with Minimum Internet Downlink/Uplink of 4 Mbps/1 Mbps and Maximum Internet Downlink/Uplink of 25 Mbps/3 Mbps.

  • Qualifying residents of tribal lands may receive a discount of up to $34.25 off their monthly phone or broadband service
Consistent with federal regulation, eligible candidates receive a $9.25 a month discount on either the landline or wireless service package of their choice that meets minimum service standards. For voice or broadband packages that do not meet minimum service standards, eligible consumers will receive a $7.25 a month discount effective December 1, 2019. For voice or broadband packages that do not meet minimum service standards, eligible consumers will receive a $5.25 a month discount beginning December 1, 2020. The Lifeline discount will be eliminated on December 1, 2021 for voice-only services and for service packages that do not include the minimum level of broadband service.
